Round 1: 13th February 2001 vs. SAS FC

MELBOURNE 14 Feb 2000 - THE DAZZLING FOURTH division of the Tuesday night competition saw EDO 1776 FC play their most successful season opener yet.

EDO's only other season opener was a 4-3 loss, which showed signs of promise, but was nothing compared to last night's stunning victory at the Albert Park Secondary College gymnasium.

A hard fought first half saw plenty of EDO pressure on league newcomers SAS FC, which ended not unusually with scores being level going into the break.

But in the second period EDO 1776 FC kept the pressure up, and were rewarded with goals aplenty. Keeper and captain Graham, still carrying a jaw injury after last week's grand final clash, came off late in the second half, but only after some spectacular saves to keep EDO in the game. Rob took the goalie gloves and continued the tradition, to keep SAS to a single goal during the second half.
